Samuel Kofi Adjei alias Jamalo, the driver of the deputy for Suhum who was accused of causing damage with an offensive weapon during the funeral of a communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Suhum in the eastern region, received a bond of GH ¢ 80,000 by a circuit court in Koforidua.
A bail application was due to be heard today, September 7, 2021, by the Koforidua District Court, which last week fired Jamalo. The case was, however, closed after the prosecution filed a nolle prosequi.
After the case was closed by the district court, the police re-arrested the suspect and brought him to justice in the Circuit Court.
The Circuit Court chaired by His Lordship Mercy Adei Kotei granted the bond with two sureties and adjourned the case until October 8, 2021.
The accused’s lawyer requested his client’s release on bail because of his ill health, which met with stiff opposition from the prosecution.
Counsel for the accused Suleman Musah d’Amoako Adjei Law Consult met with Citi News after having obtained the deposit from his client.
He maintained the innocence of his client.
“This is not the person who did it. You don’t right one wrong with another, ”Musah said.
