Alhbadan Suhuyini, a member of the Tamale North Parliament, was summoned to leave the House after violent disagreements on Wednesday afternoon.

Joseph Opoku Gakpo of Joy News reported that the Speaker had ordered the member of the minority to make noise.

"He shouted loudly as he left, then one of the guards approached and he left," the reporter said.

"Mister Tamale North, please leave the House, please. Marshall, make sure he's leaving the house "- said Joe Osei Owusu

Suhuyini noted that the speaker was unfair since he was not the only one making noise. He also said that he was fighting well, as it was unfair for the president to ask the minority to apologize for an ugly little tag on Lydia Alhbadan.

Tension rose in the House on Wednesday when the President asked NDC minority MPs to apologize to the new MP for the House, Lydia Alhbadan, for calling her "Bloody widow" on Tuesday.

NDC deputies, however, said they would not excuse themselves for their action and instead called for reconsideration of the decision.

Deputy Minority Chief James Avedzi noted that the use of signs in the House was not new.

He noted that the use of posters was not always authorized by the minority rulers and that it would be difficult to identify the people wearing the posters carrying the "bloody widow" so that the leaders of the minority do not apologize.

The President has since noted that the Clerk of Parliament was reviewing the footage and identifying MPs with the label "bloody widow" so that they find themselves facing Parliament's Committee on Privileges.

Context

On Tuesday, as Lydia Alhbadan took office, the NDC deputies boycotted the event. On leaving, they launched placards labeled "bloody widow".

Ms. Alhbadan is the wife of the late Emmanuel Agyarko, MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon until his death in November 2018.

His widow, Lydia Alhbadan challenged and won the seat. But the NDC is unhappy with the violence that took place in La Bawaleshie near one of the polling centers in the constituency on polling day.

They want an investigation into the violence and they also demanded that all results be rescinded because of the troubles in La Bawaleshie.
