The Ghana National Union of Students (NUGS) advised students never to consider suicide as an option when they face academic challenges.
The council comes at a time when a final year student at the University for Development Studies (UDS), Wa Campus, has committed suicide for poor test results.
Enoch Akondor, a BSC development planning specialist, reportedly committed suicide after failing in several courses.
He committed suicide Saturday night in his hotel room drinking a poisonous substance, when he realized that he might not be able to graduate because of his bad results.
In response to this, NUGS presented his condolences to the families of the UDS student and the KNUST student, deceased from the aftermath of a fire, who died.

OUR CONDOLENCES WITH FAMILIES AND INSTITUTIONS
The National Union of Ghanaian Students has learned of the unfortunate disappearance of two Ghanaian students. Emmanuel Akandor and De-Graft Acheampong of the University of Development Studies, Wa (UDS) and the University of Science and Technology Kwame Nkrumah (KNUST), respectively, with considerable shock and pain .
Akandor died as a result of an alleged suicide yesterday while De-Graft was a victim of a fire that occurred in the Kumasi KO Methodist Bookstore yesterday on 27/01/19 around 10:30.
Union leaders advise students that no matter what project or problem you face, SUICIDE SHOULD NEVER BE AN OPTION.
There are more opportunities to keep in times of struggle.
Our sincere condolences to the families and institutions of the deceased. They have provided their quota in the student struggle and we value them very much on behalf of all Ghanaian students.
With deep sympathy and condolences, we mourn with the families and institutions affected.
Thank you.
