Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State warned against retaliation for the killing of two leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) by gunmen.
MACBAN State Chairman Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini and MACBAN Chairman of Toto Local Government Area Alhaji Mohammed Umar were killed on Friday by suspected bandits at Garaku Market in the local government area from Kokona.
A statement from the governor’s chief press secretary Ibrahim Addra on Saturday in Lafia cited Sule as calling for calm at the funeral of the late MACBAN president in Kokona.
According to the statement, the governor expressed sadness at the incidence and warned of retaliatory attacks that could worsen the situation.
Sule pledged to work with security agencies to stop and prosecute criminal elements disrupting peace in the state.
However, he called on those who are determined to break the peace that the state enjoys to turn a new leaf for development to flourish.
The governor urged the families of the deceased to remain faithful and take comfort in God.
He gave assurances that his administration would continue to work hard to ensure adequate security of life and property in the state.
