A man in his thirties was found dead at Awudome in Accra after the torrential rain of Sunday night.
A head of the Urban Rescue and Rescue team of the National Organization for Natural Disaster Management on patrol mission told Citi News that they had found the dead body near A drain in the area.
The ambulance service and the police arrived a few minutes after the discovery of the body and transported the remains to the morgue.
A resident of the area stated that the deceased had already been seen as a traffic officer.
"I know him in the neighborhood. He is popularly known as Kweku Bonsam. He was directing traffic just around the roundabout because of the water situation. We think that he may have taken alcohol beyond his limit and that he was so carried away by the water up to that point. [where he was found dead]. "
Archbald Cobbinah, director of NADMO for Greater Accra, told Citi News that he responded to the distress call after the residents' call.
He described the incident as an unfortunate situation.
"It's an unfortunate situation. Our heart goes to the family of the deceased. The police came to get the body.
Residents said the Sunday evening rain, which lasted nearly 30 minutes, flooded the entire region.
Other parts of the capital have also been flooded.
