It started at WWE Royal Rumble and then all the way to Atlanta, Georgia: the NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa, North American Champion NXT Johnny Gargano, and the guru of the undisputed era Adam Cole in a smackdown of six men with Aleister Black, ricochetand world champion Velveteen Dream – with WWE Hall of fame Shawn "the sorrow" Michaels on the spot to announce.
But a match of this NXT Caliber could not be held anywhere … it had to be held "super".
So for the first time in two decades, WWE Halftime Heat returned as an unofficial partial halftime option at the Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots of New England take the Los Angeles Rams. Available on WWE, as well as on WWE.com, the WWE app, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, fans were able to watch a marathon of some of NXT's most epic all-time games, with wrestlers going of Finn Balor and Sasha Banks at Asuka and Kevin Owens.
