Supporters of Tottenham bewildered by the fact that "the Harry Kane kit appears in the locker room of Ajax"

Tottenham will have to fend off Harry Kane while they host Ajax for their first leg in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

Kane has an ankle injury in the first leg of his spectacular quarter-final win against Manchester City. It should be discarded for the rest of the season.

But some Spurs fans have come up with the idea that it could challenge Mauricio Pochettino's news and make a surprise appearance.

The reason for their false hope? A tweet from Ajax's official report on their arrival at Tottenham Hostpur stadium, during which they shared a photo of the kits on both sides arranged in the locker room.

They confirmed that they would wear their black kit, as they had done when they knocked out Juventus on the last lap, with Tottenham in their home kit.

But the picture showed Kane No.10 Spurs kit in their locker room, next to Hugo Lloris's orange guardian kit.

Kane's kit also appeared in Ajax's locker room in a video of their Instagram story, titled "Never change a winning kit …".

This caused the fans to react with "surely not …", then wondering if it was actually a leak showing that Kane would be featured.

Fans went to great lengths to verify that the photo had never been uploaded before. Rumors were then brought to Kane's attention.

Unfortunately for the Spurs fans, his ligament injuries make it no longer the case and it was very likely that one of his kits was presented to show the colors used tonight.

This is probably good news for Ajax, however, as one fan said: "If these photos are from today, then I wish you the best of luck because the score will not be very good."

Another added, "Do not tease us with this # 10 Ajax thing, you do not want to Kane to make you regret it "

Others have noticed that the price was still attached to Kane's shorts, however, seeming to confirm that the brief glimmer of hope was too good to be true for Spurs.
