Supreme Court exempts Saridon from banned CDN list: Piramal Enterprises

New Delhi: Piramal Enterprises Ltd (PEL) said Thursday that its brand of painkiller, Saridon, was exempted from the list of fixed-dose combinations banned by the Supreme Court.

In a regulatory filing, the company said the Supreme Court had ruled in favor of Saridon, a brand inherited from its portfolio of health care products.

"In September 2018, PEL had received a ban order from the Supreme Court, which allowed it to continue manufacturing, distributing and selling the FDC," he said.

Last year, in September, the government had banned 328 ADFs, qualified as "irrational" because of safety concerns and the lack of therapeutic justification.

In declaring that Saridon is a "recognized heritage brand in India by customers for 50 years", Piramal said: "This exemption from the Prohibited FDC Prohibited List confirms our intention to serve our customers with the highest degree d & # 39; integrity. "

Piramal added, "We continue to expand our healthcare product portfolio with the goal of ranking us among the top three over the counter product companies in India by 2020".

Citing a study by AC Neilson, PEL said the market for addressable painkillers is Rs 6,450 crore, including Rs 2,100 crore in December 2018. The popularity of the brand is widespread, with 31 tablets sold per second.

PEL stated that Saridon is available on a distribution network of 9 lakh outlets in India.
