Collector Susu (Rotating Savings), 63, appeared in Accra circuit court for allegedly beating his wife with a piece of metal for receiving too many nightly calls.

Richard Odonkor alleged that his wife Faustina Laryea received calls from her boyfriends.

Ms Laryea was said to have suffered serious head injuries which affected her brain. She cannot walk well and had to be helped from the courtroom to the home.

Accused of causing harm, Odonkor pleaded not guilty.

The Court chaired by Ms. Christiana Cann admitted Odonkor to a bond of 30,000 ¢ with three sureties, two of which must be justified.

The court ordered the prosecution to file its witness statements and any documents it relied on. He further ordered the prosecution to serve the accused with all process.

The case was adjourned until March 15.

Sergeant Opoku Aniagyie, who held the brief of Chief Inspector Judith B. Asante, said the complainant “is the wife of the accused and they both reside” in Teshie, Accra.

The prosecution has said for some time that there was a misunderstanding between the accused and the plaintiff because Odonkor accused his wife of “taking calls suspected of being his boyfriends at night.”

For this reason, the Prosecutor said that on January 15 of this year, around 2 a.m., an argument ensued between the two and in the process, Odonkor pounced on the complainant and subjected her to beatings. severe and wounded her with metal.

The prosecution said the complainant managed to escape to file a complainant with Nungua Police, Domestic Violence and Victim Support (DOVVSU).

The complainant received a medical report for treatment at the hospital. Later, Odonkor was arrested.
