Swansea is about to complete a shortlist in his search for a new director after Graham Potter's departure for Brighton last month.

Sky Bet Championship President Trevor Birch revealed that talks were under way for Potter's replacement.

Potter on the left Swansea last month, after less than a year at the head of Brighton, who had sacked Chris Hughton a week earlier.

"The fact that we have received so many quality candidates speaks volumes about the attractiveness and respect of this football club in football," Birch told the club's official website.

"We still have some candidates to interview earlier this week, after which we will have a much clearer picture of how we will progress and move to our final final list.

"It's important that we do not rush the appointment. But it is more important that we take the right appointment. I will strive to keep supporters informed of progress. "

Swansea finished the season in 10th place under Potter, who joined the Swedish FK Ostersunds in June 2018 after the departure of Carlos Carvalhal.

Former Brighton and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, Michael Appleton and Swansea Under-23 coach Cameron Toshack are in the running.

Mickey Mellon, boss of Tranmere Rovers, Michael Koller, former manager of Nuremberg, and Darren Moore, former manager of West Brom, should all be in the running for the job.
