Swiss cybersecurity company opens Blockchain center in Geneva

The Swiss company WISeKey, specialized in blockchain and cybersecurity, opened a center of excellence in Blockchain in Geneva, according to an announcement published on February 1st.

WISeKey focuses on secure authentication and authentication using a cryptographic tool called Trusted Root. The company is increasingly incorporating Internet of Things (IoT) technology and blockchain technology into its operations and portfolio.

The Geneva Blockchain Center of Excellence is supposed to help blockchain-related startups in addition to researching and promoting new technologies. It will also aim to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology in the public and private sectors.

The opening of the center is part of a new partnership with the Blockchain Research Institute (BRI), which aims to open more centers in the United States, Latin America, China, India and Africa.

The goal of global blockchain centers is to coordinate activities with companies, universities and other centers and to share best practices and resources. Each center will develop its own area of ​​expertise. Geneva will focus on financial technology, while the Buenos Aires center in Argentina will focus on counterfeit platforms.

Last week, WISekey announced the opening of its Global Blockchain Center in Malaysia as part of a partnership with a subsidiary of the Malaysian company Censof, a technology investment company. Censof's director of the board of directors, Ameer bin Shaik Mydin, said: "The potential benefits of the blockchain will help improve the efficiency of our customers."

On January 23, WISeKey announced a blockchain-based identity partnership with the non-profit Race for Water Foundation, which aims to reduce ocean pollution with the help of the chain of blocks.

WISeKey will create a digital identity stored in its blockchain for each plastic product manufactured by the participating companies. The products will then be linked to a secure form factor on the product using QR codes and chips. Recycling efforts for each product will be tracked and recorded on a blockchain.
