Sydney measles alert: second warning after diagnosis of two separate people

Sydney residents were asked to monitor the symptoms of measles after two alerts were published.

A man in his forties was diagnosed in Queensland after spending four days in Sydney. He spent time at Manly, Berowra and the CBD between June 29th and July 1st. It is also believed that he was contagious on two Tiger Airways flights.

Symptoms can take up to 18 days after exposure to a person with measles. People in the same place and at the same time as the man should be alert to the signs and symptoms of measles until July 20th.

  • June 29 – The TT609 flight from Tiger Airways from Gold Coast Airport to Terminal 2 of Sydney Airport arrives at 11:25.
  • July 2 – Jetstar JQ420 flight from Sydney Airport Terminal 2 to the Gold Coast departing at 10:20 am

A young man from Sydney also contracted the virus after crossing Southeast Asia. He spent time at Hornsby, Lane Cove, Lindfield, CBD, Newtown and Erskineville between June 30th and July 8th.
