Tactical Review of AC Milan's tight draw with Napoli at home

Milan won a critical point against Napoli performing for the first time in a long time. Here is our critique of the game:

The youth project is getting ready

AC Milan has lined up one of its youngest teams against Naples yesterday and by far one of the most consistent in recent history. This match was the only one against Napoli where we played in the last five seasons without Milan being outclbaded and dangerous. The youth project in Milan is beginning to take shape and the central group is now in existence and happening. Milan grows up every game and his main fault right now is inexperience – as expected. If these problems are resolved, the team will take the leap this season and will ensure the place of champion of the Champions League. The calm in the last third is necessary, the determination of the counter-attack and the confidence of the attackers.

Romagnoli is a rock

Alessio Romagnoli played an incredible 90 minutes, which earned him a big performance in the big game. Napoli constantly harbaded our box and Romagnoli was always there to help Marshal Milik and Mertens keep them. He made some key interceptions, including clearing Koulibaly's ball after a face-off. It was just the second blank sheet of the Musacchio-Romagnoli partnership and it was a big deal, it should work wonders for their confidence. . Romagnoli, like Donnarumma, seems to improve considerably his pbades and his vision while he played some good balloons breaking the lines of Napoli. This can play a key role if he perfects it.

Another amazing performance for Gigio

Donnarumma keeps another blank card for him in 5 out of 7 of Serie A. He is definitely recovering his form and that helps the team a lot. Against Napoli, he made some very good saves, but most of his job was to put some order in the Napoli ranks. This should be the norm for all quality guardians, but more importantly, it was to avoid any slippage. Donnarumma is more and more confident as he communicates more obviously with his bottom line and promptly launches Milan at the counter. Hopefully the form stays and we can count on Gigio.

Some threats of spare parts

It's a personal observation, but Milan looked threatening for the first time this season. Piatek Debut & Cutrone's Role

It's a complicated point because it was amazing to see Piatek's potential in his brief debut, his breathtaking pace and his staggering strength. He can open the Milan attack and give us a new dimension of attack that we have long been lacking in combining speed, strength and a hell of a blow. Moreover, I really want to see the development of Cutrone, which is the soul of the team – in my opinion – and can be extremely promising for the next decade. It's a difficult road to go, but finding a balance between the two young hopefuls will be a challenge for Gattuso. I envision the solution of how Inzaghi played against other attackers such as Pato in 2008/09, Gilardino in 2007/08 and Shevchenko. Cutrone would play a similar role in a two-man attack, super-sub or single, accumulating more than 25 games and about 10-15 goals to ensure his continued development.
