Nana Abakah is a lawyer working with families of girls kidnapped by Tadi
A lawyer of the families of the three abducted girls in Sekondi – Takoradi, Nana Abakah said that the state could no longer waste time prosecuting the main suspect, Samuel Wills, in the case of kidnapping.
He pointed out that public anger is growing and that the result may be too difficult for the government to contain.
His claims follow an 18-month prison sentence handed down on Monday by the Takoradi Market Circle District Court against 28-year-old Nigerian Samuel Wills.
He was convicted on two counts of breaking the prison in January while he was in police custody for allegedly kidnapping the three girls in Sekondi – Takoradi, in the area of ?? 39; West.
The president of the court, Michael Ampadu, had explained in his decision that the sentence was part of the case of kidnapping on the merits.
The jailbreak case traveled from January to April, causing much anxiety among the parents of the three kidnapped girls.
Family members had hoped that the abduction case would be a priority, but the court president made it clear that he had no cases of kidnapping before him.
S addressing reporters after the judgment, lawyer of the families of the victims, Nana Abakah did not know when the trial of Willis would begin.
"The police told the court that she was still investigating the kidnapping. This means that the prosecution still has nothing concrete. They asked the judge to decide on the jailbreak. We do not know when the hearing of the kidnapping will begin. "
He stressed: "We must therefore make all the noise with the government, the IGP for the work to last for a long time, three children from August to now …"
He said: "The news we received from the police was such that it gave us hope to get a good report today on the fate of girls. I did not feel satisfied with today's procedure for evasion and damage. According to what we heard, the investigation should have necessarily resulted in the girls' exit.
"If the police say that she knows where the girls are, then what prevents them from getting them out is strange," he said.
