The colorful murals that illuminate the "Rainbow Village" in Taichung City, central Taiwan, have helped a former veterans settlement become an attraction for locals and tourists alike. The mural paintings were painted by Huang Yung-fu, born in 1924 in Taishan County, Guangdong Province, southern China.

Also known as "Rainbow Grandfather", Huang is a former Kuomintang soldier who participated in the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Civil War in China.
