Ghana Police Service Director of Public Affairs ACP Kwesi Ofori said Josephine Panyin Mensah was not forced to confess to faking her kidnapping and pregnancy as it was supposed.

“There was no assault, no intimidation, no one forced her to tell the truth. It was a voluntary declaration to the police, ”ACP told Citi TV / Citi FM is the big deal.

He said Josephine made the confession in the presence of “an independent witness, her mother and her husband.”

Josephine grabbed the headlines for weeks after it emerged she was allegedly kidnapped on a dawn walk with a nine-month pregnancy.

When she was found in Axim, several kilometers from Takoradi where she was allegedly kidnapped, she was silent, neglected and without any sign of the said pregnancy.

Allegations that she gave birth on the same day she was kidnapped and the baby taken away by the kidnappers came under close scrutiny by Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, stating on Wednesday September 22 that the said pregnancy was a fake.

The police administration in a subsequent statement confirmed the minister’s request after two medical tests were performed on her.

However, some members of the public, including Josephine Panyin Mensah’s family and neighbors, had insisted she was pregnant at the time of her disappearance.
