Northern Region security personnel held a force demonstration operation in the Northern Region to ensure the safety of residents in preparation for the funeral and funeral of the last two Dagbon Chiefs.

Before the Christmas celebrations, criminal activity is expected to increase in the region, said Tamale Police DSP PRO, Yussif Tanko.

There is also the strengthening of security in Dagbon, in the northern region, as the community prepares to celebrate the funeral of two of its last leaders.

The funeral of the late Mahamadu Abdulai and Yakubu Andani, which will be held at different times in Gbewa Palace, is expected to be the beginning of the road map for peace in a region known for its conflict for many years.

Already, tension is mounting in the region as a result of threats of resistance by a group that wanted the funeral of the late Mahamadu Abdulai not to take place in Gbewa Palace.

Dagbon, who was once a peaceful community, was torn apart in a conflict zone because of a leadership conflict between the Abudus and the Andanis.

Disagreements over who is the legitimate heir to the throne led to conflict and total war, which led in 2002 to the beheading of Yakubu Andani, then Ya-Na.

Since 2002, the two factions have been fighting over who, where and when to perform the funeral of Abudu leader Mahamadu Abdulai.

The Andanis claim that the late Mahamadu did not die as Ya-Na and that he would resist any attempt to have his funeral buried in the venerable Gbewa Palace.

There is also the question of when to hold the funeral of the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani.

Shortly after his badbadination, the then president, John Kufuor, formed a committee of three prominent leaders led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu, to mediate between the two families and find a solution to the problem. Amicable conflict.

After a decade of mediation between the two families, the leaders announced a roadmap for peace including the funeral arrangements of the last two Ya-Nas families.

That of Mahamadu Abdulai will take place from December 14 to 28, after that of Ya-Na Yakubu Andani in January.

Before the first funerals, there are tensions in the region with some threats of resistance.

But the police insist that there will be no place to tolerate troublemakers.
