Tara Moore saves the game 0-6 0-5 before beating Jessika Ponchet

When you lose 0-6 0-5 and face a match point, there is a good chance you will not be able to go back.

But the old adage says the winners never stop – and Tara Moore refused to give up when she found herself in that exact situation on Tuesday.

In a show of extraordinary courage, the number 9 British avoided the double to 30-40 and beat the third seeded French Jessika Ponchet, 0-6 7-6 6-3, at the ITF World Tour tournament in Sunderland.

The biggest return of the history of tennis? Well, the 26-year-old said on social media that it was "never doubted".

Moore won nine singles titles at the ITF and reached the second round of Wimbledon in 2016.

She will face German Yana Morderger or Romanian Elena-Teodora Cadar in the second round at Sunderland.
