Target down because cash registers fail in stores, leaving long lines

Target's payment systems seemed to miss the target the day before Father's Day, the terminals have become AWOL in a number of US outlets of the company. The outage provoked long queues but sparked an encouraging show of sympathy for Target employees on Twitter. And there were also jokes, of course.

"We are aware that Customers are currently unable to shop at Target stores," the business said in his own tweet Saturday. "Our teams are solving the problems and we apologize for this inconvenience and we will provide you with an update as soon as possible."

It is unclear how many outlets were affected, although various reports indicated that stores across the United States were caught in chaos. The cause was not clear either. Target did not immediately respond to a request for additional information.

The hashtag #targetdown The trend was on Twitter, social network users expressing their sympathy for Target's in-store employees.
