(Reuters) – Sunday's Target Corp said it was unable to process card payments in some stores for nearly 90 minutes due to a problem with the supplier – the second consecutive breakdown at which the retailer was confronted in a week.

According to Target, its NCR payments provider had a problem at one of its datacenters Sunday afternoon, which affected the retailer's stores.

The incident was not related to the glitch of Saturday, the company said in an email statement, adding that the problem was now resolved and payments were in progress.

The company faced a blackout on Saturday because of an "internal technology problem" that prevented US customers from paying for their in-store purchases.

The problem was not related to security and no payment information was compromised at any time, added the retailer.

A defect on a network device in June 2014 also caused problems for Target's payment processing systems, according to media reports.
