A first year high school student from Tarkwa High School in the West would have been kidnapped.
The incident occurred earlier this week when the student asked the school permission to visit her mother in Prestea.
The student, Augustina Ndaago, reportedly departed Wednesday (January 23rd) and reportedly left the school premises on Wednesday without coming home as planned.
There was subsequent correspondence between the school and her mother after it appeared that she had not arrived at the scheduled time.
The school, in a statement signed by the director, Paulina Manu, said that the supposed kidnappers of the student called Thursday to inform her family of her custody.

On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, a Formula 1 student, Augustina Ndaago, took over from the badistant housekeeper to go to Prestea, where her mother is.
According to the hostess, on the evening of that same Wednesday, January 23, 2019, Augustina's mother called to report that her daughter had not arrived home.
Unfortunately, on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at approximately 12:30 pm, Augustina's brother called the hostess to inform her that an "alleged" kidnapper had sent her a text message stating that Augustine and two other people had kidnapped and were under their care.
Upon hearing this, a report was prepared at the Tarkwa Police Station for investigations to be conducted.
As of today, January 25, 2019, no news of Augustina has been received.
Augustina is twenty-one (21) years old and studies in home economics.
In recent weeks, kidnappings in the country involving mostly young girls have been reported.
Three kidnappings in the West region reported earlier sparked a social media campaign by Ghanaians, urging the police to be more aggressive in finding missing girls.
Another report was made this week in the Volta region involving a 17-year-old girl.
Ms. Beatrice Dzorvakpor, a 17-year-old student at Sonrise Christian High School, reported to the Ho police the case of her missing niece on Monday, January 21, and presented evidence of a conversation between her and another who used it. The phone of the niece who did not ask for ransom.
The victim was later found after the abductor filed her in Aflao, where she could have located a friend.
