TASS, May 4th. Seventeen Russian tourists were unable to return home due to the quarantine imposed in western Mongolia after the discovery of two plague cases, the Russian Embbady announced on Saturday. Mongolia to TASS.
"Mongolian authorities have declared quarantine in Bayan-Ulgii province, in the west of the country," said the embbady. "It will last from April 30 to May 6. To date, 17 Russian tourists who stayed there have contacted us."
"They have no health problems.We hope that quarantine will be lifted on May 6 and that they will go home," added the spokesman for the embbady. "We contacted them and gave them all the help they needed."
The Russian Embbady recommends that Russian citizens refrain from traveling to this part of Mongolia, as they will not be able to leave the province before the mid-40s.
Among the Russians remaining in western Mongolia are residents of Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk. There are also tourists from other countries, including the United States, Japan and Germany.
