A taxi driver in Mampong, in the Ashanti region, had his penis, testicles and tongue pricked during a horrific attack on a farming community in the mountainous region.
A week after the disappearance of Stephen Amankwa Okyere, his mutilated body was found lying in a bush near a cocoa plantation at Nintin – a community located near Mampong.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo, who speaks for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, said that a pathologist who had visited the scene with a team of police officers reported that Mr. Okyere, 34, had died as a result of "strangulation" and "bodily mutilation".
According to him, the wife of the deceased, Amoanimaa Dede, reported Monday, January 7, the disappearance of her husband to the command of the Mampong Divisional Police.
ASP Ahianyo told that Mr. Okyere left home with his Nissan taxi with registration number AC 1205-17 and never came back.
He said that a previous search to locate the victim was found to be unsuccessful.
On January 15, however, police learned that Amankwaa Okyere's lifeless body was lying in a bush near a cocoa plantation in Nintin, on which they quickly acted and found that the information was true.
He called on the general public to help police arrest those responsible for the heinous crime and to recover the car.
