Taylor Swift and Khalid will perform at the TIME 100 2019 Gala on April 23, celebrating TIME's annual list of the 100 most influential personalities in the world.
Just out of his record Reputation stadium tour and the precipice of its next creative era, Swift spent the year continuing to be hailed. "Taylor is facilitating the creation of music for millions of people," wrote Shawn Mendes, his fellow pop star, in a tribute to Swift for the TIME 100 issue. "Everything comes from her – from her belief in magic and in love, and his ability to be as honest and raw as possible. She has the least control over reflection, and that's why her music connects so well. "
Khalid, who has been nominated for five Grammys, including Best New Artist, recently reached the # 1 Billboard 200 with his second album, Free spirit. Alicia Keys, who claims to have been introduced to Khalid for the first time in 2016 with her first single "Location," says the 21-year-old singer-songwriter is "totally unique."
"He's a wonderful writer, able to take human concepts, make them understand and feel them," Keys wrote. "He has a full and powerful voice that is both unpretentious and sweet. It is accessible, almost as if you had already met someone like him before, although there is nobody else like him.
Swift and Khalid are both featured on this year's TIME 100 list. They follow in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez and Shawn Mendes, who demolished the house at the gala last year.
