Teachers invited to familiarize themselves with standard guidelines

Professor Eric Nyarko-Sampson, Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences of the College of Education Studies at the University of Cape Coast instructed teachers to become familiar with the guidelines regarding national standards for teachers .

He said the guidelines had been developed as a professional tool to improve performance and that teachers, especially new graduates, should use the document wisely.

Professor Nyarko-Sampson said this at the 12th badembly of St. Teresa's Education College (TERESCO) in Hohoe, in the Volta region.

He added that although teachers were trained as professionals, they had to comply with standard guidelines to be effective, competitive and efficient.

The occasion was on the theme: "Training of quality teachers; The role of colleges of education in promoting national standards for teachers in 21st century teachers. "

Reverend Emmanuel Kofi Fianu (SVD), Catholic Bishop of Ho Diocese and College Sponsor, said that effective supervision was one of the mechanisms to ensure that after receiving all contributions and interventions, the two main actors in the education sector – teachers and students would be forced to do what was expected to achieve the desired results.

Ms. Sophia Adjoa Micah, director of the St. Teresa College of Education, said that despite her academic achievements, her teaching staff was inadequate.

She urged the government to allow the Order to hire additional staff.

Ms. Micah congratulated the council of College student representatives for purchasing polyethylene tanks to solve the water shortage problems and helped with the construction of the fence wall of the College. ;Order.

She said frequent power outages were a major concern for student safety and education disruption.

Ms. Micah urged the government to release funds to allow the Order to supplement the premises of its staff, the closing wall of the Order, to begin the renovation work of the administrative block and the 39; versatile auditorium of the Order.

She expressed management's gratitude to the partners and sponsors who helped the students during their field experience and mentoring programs.

Mr. John Peter Amewu, Minister of Energy and Petroleum, congratulated the graduates and asked them to effectively use the training that they acquired as students.

He badured that work on the roads of the region would start soon under the many road projects carried out under the framework agreement for the Sinohydro project.

He promised to provide a generator at the college to solve the power fluctuation problem.

A total of 383 graduates received a Certificate in Basic Education Diploma, with Okah Deborah Mawutah being named best student.
