Mrs. Owusu Oduro made this remark during the second edition of the Municipal Teacher / Worker Award of the Education Directorate of the Municipal Assembly of La-Dadekotopon, which was held in Labone, at Accra, on the theme: "Qualified teachers, our collective responsibility for quality education". . "
She said the introduction of the teacher's license and continuing professional development were key policies pursued by the government through the CNT, which aimed to improve the professional status of teachers in the country.
Ms. Owusu Oduro said that the government, through the Ministry of Education, had the responsibility to give the Ghanaian teacher the power to stand out among teachers around the world in order to ensure an education of quality, inclusive and equitable, to enhance learning opportunities for all throughout life. as stated in the Millennium Development Goal "4".
"It is incumbent upon all of us to take collective responsibility to ensure that we have qualified teachers in our educational institutions for quality education in our country," she added.
The Executive Secretary urged everyone to adopt the teacher certification program and ongoing professional development pursued by the NTC and to ensure that teachers take advantage of the opportunities offered by the program to improve their professional status.
Ms. Owusu Oduro commended the government for giving this issue top priority, adding that this year, teacher training in Ghana has been profoundly transformed, with the beginning curriculum of colleges of education.
"It is thought that improving the quality of a teacher greatly enhances the quality of student learning," she said.
She reminded the metropolitan, district and municipal bademblies that it was their responsibility to ensure that they identified the teachers who worked hard in their respective regions and rewarded them accordingly.
Ms. Bernice A. Addae, Director of Education for the Municipality of La-Dadekotopon, stated that the teacher awards program was a wake-up call calling on all teachers and workers to do more in the run of their work.
Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, of La Shikitele, congratulated the laureates and urged them not to rest on their oars, but to continue to provide a service dedicated to uplifting education in the municipality.
He called on teachers to embrace modern trends in technology education in order to avoid being left behind in the execution of their work.
