NEW YORK: Are you still in the mood to tease your better half? So there is good news. A new study suggests that couples who mock, indicating humor, are more likely to stay together.
The study showed that internal jokes are especially important as they badert their relationship through laughter, reported the Daily Mail.
However, it is unlikely that couples who share mean jokes with nasty jibs will persist, indicating a problem in the relationship.
"The joy of living between romantic partners is a crucial element in bringing together and establishing relational security," said Jeffrey Hall, badociate professor at the University of Kansas in the United States.
"The particularly shared laughter is an important indicator of the romantic appeal of potential partners," said Hall.
The team examined more than 150,000 participants to determine the importance of humor in a romantic relationship.
The findings, published in the journal Personal Relationships, suggest that couples who create humor together – including jokes – are more likely to last.
But, that does not mean that people who are funny or can make a joke of any kind would be luckier in love.
"If you share a sense of what is funny, it tells you and baderts your relationship with laughter," said Hall, quoted by Daily Mail.
However, couples should not go too far, warned Hall.
Importantly, having a sense of aggressive humor is a bad sign for the relationship in general, but it is worse if this style of humor is used in the relationship, the study noted.
