A team of cardiologists from Teesside went to West Africa to conduct rescue operations.
Doctors at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough volunteered and raised funds for the project in Kumasi, Ghana.
In the long term, the team hopes to train local doctors so they can continue their vital work.
