The Branch documented that 74.4% of the factors contributing to maternal mortality in the region were due to a lack of expertise and insufficient knowledge and skills.

Other contributing factors were the delay in pregnant women seeking help, denied treatment or admission and lack of transportation to get from their homes to health facilities.

The data also mentioned the lack of transportation between health care facilities, the failure of communication between health services, as well as the lack of equipment or consumables, including infusion sets, blood, between other factors contributing significantly to the 36 registered maternal deaths.

In 2018, the Directorate recorded a total of 12,195 births, 350 of which occurred. stillbirths.

Some 319 of these figures occurred in public health facilities and 31 in private centers.
