Terminator: The first trailer of Dark Fate sees the return of Linda Hamilton

Arnold Schwarzenegger said he would come back in the first terminator film in 1984 and 35 years later, it's back to reality.

He has come back several times since, but the first trailer of Terminator: Dark Fate brings together the Schwarzenegger T-800 robot with Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor. The film will introduce new characters to the franchise, including Mackenzie Davis (Stop and catch the fire) as a new hybrid between terminator and human. Other actors, like Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), will play Dark destinyNew homicidal robot.

Dark destiny also marks the return of director James Cameron to the terminator franchise, bringing the three together for the first time in years. Cameron will produce the film, while dead PoolTim Miller is behind the camera as a director. Although this is technically the sixth installment of the terminator franchise, Dark destiny is a direct sequel to The terminator and T2: day of judgment. So, do not worry about catching up Terminator 3: The lifting of machines, Terminator: Salvation, or Terminator: Genisys.

Dark destiny follows a trend of action-blockbusters that pick up the story in real time, while ignoring some of the misguided sequels. The idea is to move the character franchise of Hamilton and Schwarzenegger to a younger cast with a repeat franchise restart, much like what Disney and Lucasfilm did with the recent Star wars trilogy suite, or like what Universal did with Jurbadic World and Jurbadic World: Fallen Kingdom, which take the story of years later in real time. Based on this new trailer, age is really just a number. Hamilton is still hard on his return to Connor.

The movie is designed to be the beginning of a new trilogy, but that's also what was said of 2009 Terminator: Salvation and 2015 Terminator: Genisys, who have both seen these ambitious plans abandoned after failing at the box office. Hopefully, with Cameron coming back to direct the franchise, this will not be the case here.

Terminator: Dark Fate will be released in theaters on November 1st.
