The money eaten by termites
A 65-year-old woman lost her life after termites managed to get into the hole where she buried the money.
Fatima Nyande would have buried her savings of 2,000 Gh ¢ in a hole under firewood in her pen.
The incident allegedly took place in Kpasa, in the Nkwanta North District of the Volta Region.
According to the widow, she hid her daily sales in a hole because she did not trust the banks to ensure her safety.
However, she was unlucky because the termites made a descent into this hole to destroy all the money she "saved".
She explained that she had an experience in which a financial company stole 4,000 Gh ¢.
This, she said, is why she chose to bury her money in a hole.
"I started saving money in the hole dug out at home after dubious financial companies escaped with my 4,000.00 Ghâ," she said.
Mrs. Nyande urged the public to save in the banks so as not to repeat the same mistake she made.
