Tesla accused a former employee of copying the source code of his autopilot technology before joining a self-driving Chinese start-up in January.

Guangzhi Cao, a former Tesla engineer, copied more than 300,000 autopilot source code files before joining China's Xiaopeng Motors, the US company said Thursday in a lawsuit filed Thursday in a California court.

Xiaopeng Motors, which uses the English name XPENG, stated that it "did not in any way cause or attempt to cause Mr. Cao to deflect trade secrets, confidential and confidential information from Tesla," adding that he had opened an internal investigation into the case.

Mr. Cao could not be reached immediately for a comment.

Also this week, Tesla filed a lawsuit against four former employees and the US start-up Zoox, a self-driving car, alleging that employees stole trade secrets. Zoox refused to comment.
