Tests have shown that HIV human immunoglobulin supposedly seropositive for intravenous injection was seronegative, the Chinese drug watchdog said Thursday.

The results of the nucleic acid test (NAT) on HIV, HBV and HCV for medical products manufactured by the Chinese company Meheco Xinxing Pharma Co., Ltd. Shanghai-based companies were all negative, said the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in a statement.

The result of NAT on HIV in Jiangxi patients was also negative, the statement said.

The National Health Commission on Tuesday told NMPA that a batch of human immunoglobulin produced by Meheco, bearing the lot number of 20180610Z, had been found positive for anti-HIV antibodies.

The NMPA sent work teams to Shanghai and Jiangxi and asked its Shanghai office to conduct immediate site inspections and drug testing of medical products.

The related products have been sealed and the country's medical institutions have been asked to stop using them.

Additional investigations are under way.
