The Union of Teachers and Educational Workers (TEWU) warned of the challenges that the Ghanaian education sector would face if its members went on strike action.

According to a report from Starrfm.com.gh, the union is unhappy with the poor service conditions of the members, as well as the government's decision to recruit more teachers for the dual-track system.

The concern being raised, YEN.com.gh understand, it is with respect to the government's refusal to hire more non-teaching staff, which is now being entrusted with several responsibilities.

TEWU is also concerned about the delay in drafting a new service condition replacing the expired service conditions for its members.

In an interview, Charles Attah, president of the union of the University of Science and Technology Kwame Nkrumah (KNUST), warned that the country's education system would not be spared by the shock of his industrial action scheduled for late May 2019.

"In short, the children will be affected. In fact, the double track will stop, I tell you. We will tell our mothers and our cooks not to go to work and we will see who will cook for them ", he warned.

Attah stressed that his members would not continue to accept what he called the discrimination they have been accused of for several years with a repetitive apology from the government.
