Ghana ranks 10th among African countries with the highest number of marijuana users, according to a new report called the Global Cannabis Report.
Many have appealed to Ghana for legislators to discuss and legally support the cultivation and marketing of marijuana in the country, but it seems that even as an illicit drug, Ghanaians are one of the biggest consumers of marijuana in Africa.
In the new Global Cannabis Report: The 2019 Industry Outlook by New Frontier Data, Ghana ranks ninth among the more than 50 countries evaluated "Ganja" consumption.
Surprisingly, a religiously conservative country, such as Egypt, ranked third in the ranking, with Nigeria leading the way.

1. Nigeria
About 20.8 million Nigerians, or 10 percent of the country, would use marijuana. Nigeria has the largest population of Africa.
2. Ethiopia
Ethiopia, a country in East Africa, is in second place. Ethiopia has about 7.1 million consumers.
3. Egypt
Egypt is in third place with 5.9 million people who would consume the drug
4. DR Congo
The Democratic Republic of Congo has about 5 million people who consume marijuana, making it the highest ranking country in Central Africa.
5. Tanzania
Tanzania ranks fifth with 3.6 million drug users.
6. Kenya
Kenya ranks sixth with about 3.3 million marijuana users.
7. Sudan
Sudan ranks seventh with 2.7 million marijuana users.

8. Uganda
Uganda ranks eighth with 2.6 million inhabitants.
9. Madagascar
Madagascar has about 2.1 million marijuana users.
10. Ghana
It is estimated that about 2 million people in Ghana use marijuana, making it the 10th largest country in Africa.
