For better or for worse, the number of championships earned in career is the benchmark used by many fans to compare wrestlers. A 16-time world champion, like John Cena or Ric Flair, will probably be considered "better" than someone who has not won, like Roddy Piper or Curt Hennig. Just? No, but such is the life of a superstar from the WWE or the NXT.
Over the years, many superstars have spent a lot of time in NXT. But until recently, the championship opportunities offered to men and women between yellow ropes were limited.
When the Florida Championship Wrestling took the name "NXT" in the summer of 2012, it took a few episodes to announce a championship for the brand. Because of the limited opportunities to compete for a title, there are a ton of NXT superstars who have never won the gold medal when they compete for the title. Some of these superstars have become bigger and better on the main list, while others, um, have not done so. But many accomplished superstars – sometimes surprisingly – have never won a title in NXT. That begs the question, which are the better superstars to never win a championship in NXT?
A few caveats before we enter the list: we only consider superstars who are no longer on NXT's list as of February 2019. While they continue to compete regularly at Full Sail University, there are always have a chance that they can still win a title. So, for all Matt Riddle players, do not worry
In addition, I had a long debate on how to consider Cesaro. The Swiss Cyborg has signed a double commitment in the NXT and in the main formation from 2012 to 2014 and has never won NXT championship.
