WASHINGTON, D.C., USA – A city in Ohio is mourning a young girl who died of a diagnosis of influenza and strep throat.
Mason City School announced on Facebook that one of their students, Sable Gibson, died Wednesday night after a cardiac arrest following his diagnosis.

The Centers for Disease Control reports that almost all states and territories in the country have "widespread" influenza activity.
In a press release, the CDC said the week ending Feb. 9 reported a record number of influenza cases this season, though it is still below what we saw last year.
The proportion of deaths attributable to pneumonia and influenza was 7% during the week ending February 2, the most recent information available from the CDC. This percentage is just below the epidemic threshold of 7.3% for the fifth week in the Mortality Monitoring System of the National Center for Health Statistics.
In comparison, the level of the last influenza season was equal to or above the epidemic threshold for 16 weeks.
The latest CDC report indicates that there have been 34 infant deaths in the United States due to the flu. These figures do not include Gibson Sand from Ohio.
"These are moments like those where we come together as a community to walk side by side and care for each other," the school system wrote.
