The French publication has adopted the great coaching rule over the years and ranked its top 50, with Ajax legend Rinus Michels putting Ferguson in first place.
Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti, Man City boss, were in the top 10, while Rafa Benitez and Marcelo Bielsa, responsible for holding the Sky Bet Championship in Leeds, were also included.
Brian Clough is the highest ranked Englishman at number 15, along with Herbert Chapman and Bobby Robson also named.
On their criteria, France Football I said:
"What's a great coach?" How to compare two major technicians to sometimes more than half a century apart? And finally, what is the best of them, all times combined? To make his choice and establish his Top 50, France Football has retained three main criteria – the club winners, the trace and the legacy left on the game, the personality – to which it adds, implicitly, a fourth: the duration and impact of the career.
