The St. Francis College of Education held its 12th congregation in Hohoe in the Volta Region
Professor Kwaku Obosu-Mensah, a professor of sociology at Lorain County Community College in the United States, urged graduates to let their academic achievements impact the lives of society members.
He said it was because their accomplishments did not make sense if their impact on society was not felt.
Professor Obosu-Mensah said this when he addressed students of the 12th congregation of St. Francis's College of Education (FRANCO) in Hohoe, in the Volta region.
He asked them to start addressing societal issues and problems such as instant justice, especially lynching, and invited them to educate their students and students about the dangers and effects on society.
The event was held on the theme "Essential Elements of Quality Teacher Education in Ghana: The Role of Stakeholders".
Dr. Raphael Kodzo Kwashie, director of the college, said the improvement in academic performance and discipline among students resulted from sacrifices and hard work from college staff and management.
He said that this year's congregation has registered the highest number of first-clbad students, including; students in the history of college.
Mr. Kwashie stated that the college, from its internal fund (IGF), had extended the college's fence wall project by 310 meters, had acquired burglar-resistant functions for the auditorium and converted halls conference in departmental offices for heads of departments of the College, among others.
He added that because of insufficient funds, the college had hired students to do practical work instead of hiring workers.
Mr. Kwashie called on college stakeholders and alumni groups to support the College with an infirmary or clinic to meet the immediate health needs of college students.
A total of 448 graduates obtained a degree in Basic Education from Master Obed Odoom, ranked as the best graduate student.
