Maurizio Sarri was made furious by the actions of a Chelsea star during his 2-0 defeat to Arsenal this weekend, according to a report.
Christensen was an unused substitute – as it has been for 14 of the 23 Premier League games this season – defeat at Saturday's Gunners.
Sarri, who put in his team after the match, presented Ross Barkley, Olivier Giroud and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the spectators' bench at Emirates Stadium, while Christensen left to entertain himself with nothing with Emerson Palmieri and Ethan Ampadu.
After Sarri's third replacement, Hudson-Odoi replacing Pedro, Christensen headed to the locker room "and did not come back with 15 minutes left, time remaining, including the time remaining."
The Times adds that the Danish international "would have told his fellow employees that he was going to the toilet," but his failure to return caused Sarri's "anger."
The head coach "is not impressed by Christensen's" lack of professionalism "and" it is not clear whether he has received permission from Sarri or his coaching staff to leave the bench ".
The central half has only been played 12 times this season, including six in the Europa League, four in the League Cup and one in the England Cup. His only Premier League match this season was the 2-1 defeat of the Wolves in December.
Matt Hughes suggests that these rare opportunities have led to a "greater frustration with the stagnation of his career", a link being established between AC Milan and Barcelona. But the 22-year contract expires in 2022, so Chelsea "would require a substantial royalty."
