MILAN – Mauro Icardi received a mixed welcome on Sunday in his first appearance on the pitch in San Siro since early February.
The former captain of Inter Milan has been able to prevent his team from being held 0-0 by Atalanta in Serie A.
Icardi had made his first appearance for Inter in nearly two months during a 4-0 win in Genoa midweek, ending a stalemate of nearly two months after being removed from action. his duties as captain after prolonged contract negotiations.
But it was his first appearance in front of his own fans. There was applause from some sections and other mockery when Icardi's name was read, while a banner was displayed with the words "welcome captain.

Icardi should have scored in the first half, beating the offside trap to face Pierluigi Gollini, but his efforts were weak and Atalanta's goalkeeper was able to avoid butt.

Inter remained third in the Serie A standings, five points behind Atalanta, fifth, which is lower than AC Milan.

Lazio saved the 2-2 draw against Sbaduolo to maintain their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.
