Daniel Domelevo MFWA General Assembly Daniel Domelevo, Auditor General

Ghana's Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo, said that if he had been David Asante-Apeatu, he would not have accepted his appointment as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) because the Government had complete control over this office.

Ghanaweb.com reports that Domelevo believes that working under the full control and direction of the government renders his position ineffective, which is why he is unable to bring some perpetrators to justice.

It has not been easy to spend a few months at the IGP, as the country is plagued by a multitude of violent incidents that worry citizens about their overall security.

The PGI has come under intense pressure and criticism from the public and some civil society groups who have resigned from office following the violence that recently stained the by-election in the constituency. 'Ayawaso West Wuogon.

But during the plenary session on media and corruption in Ghana on the theme "Evaluation of the performance of the media in the fight against corruption in Ghana: two years of administration of Mr. Akufo-Addo", the auditor General congratulated the IGP for the good work done despite the backlash that it has received.

According to him, the PIG must be commended because it is not autonomous and that it is difficult to act professionally when working under an authority.

Domelevo reportedly stated: "In fact, the day I examined the law or the constitution, articles 200, 201, 202; it's about the IGP, I say my god, the IGP is doing very well, we should salute him. How can you say that he works under the direction and control of the board? "

Domelevo further indicated that, although his office is not subject to any directive or control, some people still want to exercise control over him, which he does not allow them to do.
