AVON LAKE, Ohio – The Breakwall Food and Spirits Bar & Restaurant is located at the north end of Lear Road in Avon Lake since 2013, but will move to the corner of Moore and Walker Roads and expand.

Ted Esborn, Avon Lake's Director of Economic Development, said the new The Breakwall site has been asking a lot of questions for quite some time. "There have been tumultuous years in this space," he said. "We had a hard time finding a suitable accommodation."

There was a bar in the space for a few years as well as a very short Mexican restaurant. "We now have a local business, The Breakwall, which has developed a customer base in a small space and is now making the big step. This seems to suit everyone, "Esborn said. "They have developed a good clientele and they are overflowing with money on Lear Road. Their new space will be almost double, from about 2,500 square feet to about 4,500 square feet.

Esborn said that they were participating with a lot of support from the community and with a very large menu that people really like.

The location is part of what is known in the city as the Drug Mart Plaza at 33382 Walker Road.

When Drug Mart worried about the move because there were other bars in the area that were not working very well, Esborn was able to rebadure them. Firewall is a different proposition.

"After talking to the chief of police," said Esborn, "I was able to tell them that these people were peaceful citizens from a public safety point of view. They have also been very active with the city, supporting our Business Expo, our Shop Local program in November and providing gift bags for auction at municipal events. "

In addition, Esborn said, "We have our job growth incentive program every year and they have often been recipients of these awards."

The Breakwall Food and Spirits is a family business. The date of the official opening of the move has not been announced yet, but you can be sure that Ted Esborn and Mayor Greg Zilka will be present with giant scissors and a big red ribbon.
