The US Copyright Office has revealed a second copyright record for the Bitcoin white paper.
Wei Liu, CEO of market research company Crypto, Coinsummer, said he had realized the ease with which it was easy to claim ownership of Bitcoin.
Liu told CoinDesk that he wanted to clarify that anyone can claim to be the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, "Satoshi Nakamoto".
"I just filed it so people know that everyone can register an author right. Everyone can be Satoshi Nakamoto.
The copyright office has listed Liu's filing a month after Australian computer scientist Craig Wright submitted his copyright on the white paper and original Bitcoin code, while lawsuits were pending. for claiming that he was the true creator of BTC.
After the documents filed by Wright were made public, the US Copyright Office issued a statement stating that it had not officially recognized anyone as the creator of Bitcoin.
"As a general rule, when the Copyright Office receives an application for registration, the applicant certifies the veracity of the statements made in the documents submitted.
The Copyright Office does not investigate the veracity of a statement. A record represents a claim of interest in a copyrighted work, not a determination of the truth of the claims contained therein. It is possible that several adverse claims may be registered with the Copyright Office. The Copyright Office does not have an objection procedure for copyright registrations, such as the procedures available at the Patent and Trademark Office. for patents and trademark registrations.
Dispute disputes in a registration may be heard in federal courts, including disputes over the authorship of a work. A person who intentionally includes false information in an application may be subject to criminal penalties. "
Meanwhile, in a long tweetstorm, podcaster Peter McCormack, describes his next legal challenge against Craig Wright, who sues McCormack for £ 100,000 for defamation.
McCormack, host of the "What Bitcoin Did" podcast, called Wright "fraud", challenging the computer scientist's claim that he wrote the Bitcoin white paper, created the Bitcoin code, and created the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.
Since Wright brought his lawsuit last month, McCormack appealed to the crypto community for help while preparing pro bono offers from law firms. He says he intends to win a "landslide victory" and will be represented by the UK law firm RPC.
"This morning, we filed in court an intention to defend this senseless trial with the intention of winning a landslide victory. Although I can cover some of the costs, a strong defense will require a fund. I therefore accept the advice and support of all.
Then I will coordinate a call with a group of trusted Bitcoiners to agree on the following:
– Recovery method
– Currencies accepted
– fund management
– Audit of funds
– Use of surplus funds
As you can imagine, I want this to be as transparent as possible.
We will build the strongest possible defense and use all the weight of the evidence that supports us in this case. I'll probably need the support of development experts, cryptographers and software managers to provide evidence for support. Thanks to the many offers already received.
I do not think Craig Wright is Satoshi.
McCormack says that he also thinks that Wright, who launched Bitcoin SV as a "real Bitcoin" in November 2018, is conducting a sustained, coordinated attack on Bitcoin.
He adds,
"Bitcoin SV is not Bitcoin."
