Bristol City boss Lee Johnson says the championship club is about to seal Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan from Chelsea this season.

The ladies have loaned left-back Jay Dasilva of Chelsea on loan for the 2018/19 campaign, while adding defender Tomas Kalas to the Blues.

However, Chelsea attempted to sign a long-term contract between Hudson-Odoi and the club throughout the season.

This has not happened and the situation of the contracts is coming to an end, the current contract of the 18 year old woman expiring in the summer of 2020.

Hudson-Odoi has not yet started in the Premier League for the Blues, but he started for England on Monday night and impressed Gareth Southgate's side.

However, if he had lent himself, his current trajectory might have been very different, and Johnson insisted that they had tried to get the young winger, but he was aware of the moment when he could not get away.

"There is some truth, yes," Johnson told the Bristol Post on Wednesday afternoon.

"Obviously, there are agents and it's a player we really want to bring to the football club.

"His brother is also a friend of the family.

"Yeah, he's a great talent, and he scored two or three in one of the games I watched – and I thought" oh no. "

"Sarri had just entered the fray and he had a fantastic first impression and that probably killed our chances of bringing him in."
