The president and CEO of the gold derivatives distribution company, Nana Appiah Mensah, arrived in Ghana from Dubai.
JoyNews sources said he was currently in the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana police for questioning.
He had been detained in Dubai since December 7, 2018, when he was arrested in that country for defrauding a trading partner in that country.
After months of judicial struggle, he was released because prosecutors could not prove their case of fraud against him.
A few weeks ago, it was reported that a Dubai court had ordered the payment of $ 39 million as a payment of gold provided by Menzgold to another company. .
This apparently paved the way for Mr. Appiah Mensah, nicknamed NAM1, for him to return home where he should be tried for defrauding under false pretenses, among others.
Upon his arrival on Thursday, July 11, the CEO of Menzgold went to the CID headquarters for interrogation in anticipation of his possible trial.
Joynews' Emefa Apawu told CID headquarters that Appiah Mensah was accompanied by his lawyers.
Her family and friends gathered at the police station to offer their solidarity, she added.
The arrival of NAM1 is likely to revive the hope of thousands of customers who have invested huge sums in its gold derivatives business and fear losing their investments since the closing of the company at the end of the year last.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) asked Menzgold to close its gold derivatives business in September 2018, which amounted to a deposit taking for which it was not permitted to do so. .
