A grieving bride-to-be wore her wedding dress to her fiance’s funeral after he was killed in an accident hours before their wedding.
Myles ‘Miley’ Harty, 20, of Askeaton in Limerick, Ireland, was tragically killed on Saturday August 21, when the car he was driving collided with a pole around 1 a.m. in Cragmore, according to The Irish Mirror.
On what should have been the happiest day of his life, the world of his future wife Kate Quilligan was turned upside down.
Relatives of Kate and Myles buried him on Tuesday, August 24, following a funeral service at St Mary’s Church, Askeaton, the same church where the couple were supposed to be married.
Video shows a distraught Kate standing between her parents, wearing her wedding dress and holding her bouquet outside a house, with a photo of Myles behind her.
Her father addressed the camera, saying, “Myles, that’s all Kate ever wanted in her life, Miley Harty. She’s got dressed and is going to see you one last time.”
“Miley, I’ll never forget you, you’re the boss,” he said, leaning in to kiss his daughter.
Kate paid tribute to Miley after the funeral, writing: “The hardest day of my life today, but I know you are with me every step of the way.”
I just hope you know how I felt about you.
Father Sean O’Longaigh, the parish priest, told mourners that cars are a “deadly weapon” and urged them to be “aware of the dangers”.
“You are all far too precious for us to lose,” he added.
A teenager, who police said was driving the car, was arrested on suspicion of breaking the traffic law.
He was then released without charge.
A third man, a passenger in the back of the silver hatchback Skoda, was taken by ambulance to Limerick University Hospital with “non-life threatening” injuries.
