In our previous series, we culminated with a poser reflecting on the possibility of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the next president of our great country Nigeria. During the week, someone got ahead of me, which made it easier for me to think about it.
0.1) State of Akwa Ibom, model of Udom for our dear country.
Whenever we have the opportunity to serve in any capacity, it is essential that we do so with sincerity and passion, to the best of our ability and available resources.
Mr. Udom Emmanuel took his first steps from day one as Governor of Akwa Ibom State with a philosophy of zero tolerance for ethnicity and prejudice. This fundamental sensitivity towards building a better state of Akwa Ibom by bridging this ethnic divide cannot be more applauded. A state with a cultural heritage and competing interests could easily fall into division if not properly harnessed for mutual coexistence. Mr. Udom Emmanuel’s equitable distribution of Renaissance infrastructure across the state, his conscious political inclusion of any interest in the Akwa Ibom project has contributed to the peace we enjoy as a state. Udom’s model of building a unified system is the solution for Nigeria today. If it worked in Akwa Ibom State, if it has the possibility to inhabit this great country, the model can work for our collective good as a country, because economic growth and development are not possible. only where there is relative peace.
0.2) The succession of Attah without successor. Could history repeat itself?
There is a palpable fear in some quarters that Mr. Udom Emmanuel may not have a successor to his liking, experts claim he will be deceived by his enemy friends, it is believed he will be betrayed by his most trusted allies .
Obong Victor Attah as he finished his term had the opportunity to run for the presidency of this country, during the search for the highest office in the country, his parents gave him a successor he never did negotiated, in fact, Father Ibibio has yet to recover from this historic stabbing. Will Governor Udom Emmanuel repeat history like another Governor of Ibibio who never produced a successor?
Can he handle the call to serve as president and the burden of producing a worthy successor for Akwa Ibom State to keep the peace for more superior performance?
This food for thought, let’s come now to the conversation about state trends;
0.3) Who owns God? Yes, who owns the slogan “That Same God”?
It might interest us to know that Nigerian musicians like African China, Ifeanyi and New Souls had released songs with the title; This same God before now, so the idea of claiming this same God slogan alone by any group is a mistake. Besides, who can have the monopoly of God? Even the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) cannot grant a patent on God to any group or individual because it is generic in nature, no one should pretend to the point of seeking to monopolize God or generate unnecessary snafus.
The Peacekeeping Movement (PMM) with the slogan “This same God” being a peaceful movement, I think it will embrace any person or group of people aligning with This same God as long as there is peace. in the heart.
Yours truly sees a movement that transcends the shores of this great state, This PMM is what Nigeria needs in the north against Boko Haram, bandits and kidnappings, PMM is needed in the middle belt in the southwest , the southeast of this country, PMM is needed in the South-South, PMM is beyond 2023 in Akwa Ibom state, the movement should be a movement beyond here and now . Nigeria needs this model for a better future, which is why the ancestors of PMM in Akwa Ibom state should extend their borders beyond the next elections.
Finally for today on random thoughts,
0.4) Let’s conclude this week’s random thoughts with Okon’s mistaken sense.
Most recently, the Honorable Commissioner of the Environment; Mr. Charles Udo in his lovely room on some Calabar Itu road with a spur to trumpeter Ididep elegantly slapped those of us with Okon as an identity a little too loud for comfort, although innocently I suspect, but strategically I guess he knew exactly what kind of high he needed. Unfortunately for me, some have started to call me Night’s grandson being the interpretation Mr. Charles has given to the world of the name Okon.
I believe Mr. Charles Udo didn’t want to say anything, but he caused me a little trauma that I have to lift from my chest so that those of us who bear the name and royal identity of the Ibibio breed always remain proud of our history and identity and even name our children after us. Claiming that Okon means night and invariably darkness, who would want to name a child like that? Yet Okon is beyond that and with this same God night and day have no difference. What if Okon actually meant Knight (A knight is someone who has received an honorary title of chivalry by a head of state or representative to serve the monarch, church, or country, especially in a military capacity?). Check out our ancestral history, most of our industrious sons and daughters have Okon or Akon (for ladies) and there is nothing dark or dark about them. Okon is for royalties and should not be degraded by any. I would not ask the Honorable Commissioner for an apology because he knows what to do at the right time. There are many in the Exco State of our state named Okon, many made us proud of this state named Okon, mistakenly interpreting us to shame us was an all time high.
In the future, since we love anything that has a foreign touch, maybe Nightingale would have done a better interpretation, as this beautiful bird is a perfect example of people burning midnight oil while others sleep. . Please respect our local names, this is our sign of royalty and we believe in our identity for peacekeeping.
© My name is Micheal Joseph Okon and I believe in this same God.
