The cause of Sophie Gradon's death has been confirmed as a result of an investigation.

An investigation revealed that Sophie had taken cocaine and alcohol and died by hanging. Her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong found her at her parents' home.

A few days after Sophie's death, Aaron committed suicide, an investigation said.

The North Shields Coroner's Court heard that Sophie had expressed suicidal thoughts to a friend before she was found dead.

His parents decided not to attend the survey today. At the time of his death, they issued a statement demanding confidentiality.

"It has been a week since we lost our precious daughter, and we, as a family, are still facing our sudden loss," the statement said.
