When Ange Postecoglou was a coach in Australia, his teams rarely played more than one game a week.
Now in charge of Scottish giants Celtic, the former Socceroos boss finds himself in the middle of a busy spell that sees the Hoops playing five games in three different competitions in the span of just 15 days.
Postecoglou’s side returned from the international break with an impressive 3-0 win over Ross County before failing to make the most of a two-goal lead against Real Betis midweek in a narrow loss in the Europa League.
On Monday morning (AEST), Celtic are set to rebound quickly in the Scottish Premiership against Livingston before welcoming Raith Rovers to the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals on Friday and then concluding a chaotic week three days later against Dundee United in the league .
The Hoops were deprived of a number of key players during the week and Postecoglou is hoping the return of some will make the next seven days a bit more manageable.
“It’s a busy time and we will have to juggle the league and cup matches,” Postecoglou said on Saturday.
“Like I said, I hope we get some players back, which will allow us to rest a few of them, because it will be important that we have a stronger core of players to call on.
“Livingston hasn’t won this season, but it probably gave them that motivation to get that first win, and we have to make sure we’re ready for it.
“It’s a good challenge for us. It’s always a tough place to go and play, but from our perspective, hopefully we get some bodies back and have new legs and, again, it’s a good opportunity for us to continue on the way we want to play our football.
“Every game is a threat, every game is a challenge, and what we have tried to do is approach every game the same, regardless of the opponent or their situation.”
Celtic have won three of their last four league games to sit in fifth place and are three points behind current co-leaders Hibernian and Rangers.
